Pose and handle a skeleton TPE companion: one sentence
If your Virtua Companion TPE piece has a built-in skeleton, bend joints slowly and only within a natural range, never force a pose, and support the weight when you lift or move a larger piece—lift with your legs, not your back.
This FAQ is for adults (18+) who want citeable handling facts from Care Center’s “Posing and handling” section. Full care basics: Care Center. Material definitions: TPE vs silicone.
What “built-in skeleton” means here
Some Virtua Companion forms include an internal frame that lets you change pose. Care Center treats that frame as something to move slowly and within a natural range. Forcing a joint past a comfortable stop can stress the frame or the TPE around it. This is product handling, not medical advice.
How to bend and pose safely
From Care Center:
- Bend slowly — no sudden twists or yanking through a joint.
- Stay in a natural range — stop when resistance rises; do not force past that point.
- Do not force it — if a pose needs fighting the joint, choose a milder angle.
After posing, check that TPE is not pinched hard against a sharp frame edge for long periods. For storage, prefer a supported, pressure-aware position—see storing safely.
Lifting and moving larger pieces
Care Center: support the weight when you lift or move a larger piece, and lift with your legs, not your back. Plan the path before you lift. Use two people when the piece is heavy for you. Soft underlays and foam packaging reduce drag and pressure marks during moves.
Skeleton + washing (related Care Center rule)
Under Cleaning, Care Center also says: if your piece has a built-in skeleton, don’t soak it for long; wash and rinse instead. Long soaks are a separate risk from posing, but the same product family rule applies. Dry thoroughly before storage (how to clean and dry), then light powder if needed (how to powder TPE).
Painted details while handling
Care Center’s “Painted details” note: keep makeup, inks and pens away from the surface, and clean painted details gently with a damp cloth rather than scrubbing. When you re-pose, avoid rubbing painted areas hard against fabric or furniture edges.
