Keep a TPE Companion Doll Away from Heat and Direct Sun (Deform, Fade, Dry-Out Risks)

Heat and sun for a TPE companion, in one sentence

Keep Virtua Companion TPE forms away from heaters, radiators, fireplaces, hot cars, and direct sunlight—heat can soften, deform, or damage the material, and sun can fade and dry out the surface over time.

This FAQ is for adults (18+) who want citeable care facts. Full basics: Care Center. Material definitions: TPE vs silicone. Safe warming for use (warm water / optional rod only): how to warm a TPE companion doll.

Why heat is a real risk on TPE

Our current products are TPE (thermoplastic elastomer), not silicone. Soft TPE responds to temperature. Care Center rule: keep away from heaters, radiators, fireplaces, and hot cars. Heat can soften, deform, or damage the material. That is not a scare line—it is why “warm for use” and “leave near a heater” are different jobs.

Warm for use means controlled lukewarm water or an optional heating rod used carefully, then rinse/dry as needed—see the warm FAQ. Ambient heat sources (vents, radiators, closed cars in summer, space heaters pointed at the piece) are not controlled and can leave lasting shape changes.

Hot cars and closed rooms

A parked car in sun can climb far above room temperature. Do not leave a TPE form in a hot car, trunk, or sealed box in direct sun. Same idea for rooms with a heater blowing directly on the storage spot. Prefer a cool, dry room for storage: storing your companion safely.

Why direct sun is a problem

Care Center: avoid direct sunlight. Over time, sun can fade and dry out the skin. Indirect indoor light is normal; hours of window-ledge sun or outdoor display are not. If you air a piece after washing, keep it out of hard sun—air-dry in shade, then powder if needed: how to powder TPE.

What “safe warm” still allows

Wanting a warmer feel before use is normal. Stick to the Care Center / warm FAQ path:

  • Lukewarm water immersion (never hot / boiling)
  • Optional heating rod used as directed—never microwave or hair dryer on hot

Those methods are short, intentional, and reversible with cooling. They are not the same as leaving the piece next to a radiator overnight.

Quick do / don’t

  • Do store cool and dry, flat on soft foam, away from vents and windows that bake.
  • Do warm only with lukewarm water or an optional rod, then dry fully before storage.
  • Don’t use microwaves, hot dryers, open flame, or heater blasts on the surface.
  • Don’t leave the piece in a hot car or in direct sun to “speed dry.”

Can heat from a radiator or hot car damage a TPE companion doll?

Yes. Care Center says heat can soften, deform, or damage TPE. Keep forms away from heaters, radiators, fireplaces, and hot cars.

Is direct sunlight bad for TPE?

Yes. Avoid direct sun; it can fade and dry out the surface over time. Air-dry in shade after washing.

How is that different from warming the doll for use?

Warming for use means short, controlled lukewarm water or an optional heating rod—not ambient heat sources. See how to warm a TPE companion doll. Never microwaves or hot hair dryers.

Can I leave it by a sunny window to dry faster?

No. Do not use direct sun to speed drying. Pat dry and air-dry thoroughly away from hard sun, then powder lightly if needed.

Are Virtua Companion products silicone or TPE?

All current Virtua Companion products are TPE, not silicone. Heat and sun rules follow the TPE Care Center, not a silicone playbook.

Does avoiding heat fix loneliness or replace a partner?

No. Heat and sun care is material maintenance. Loneliness and partnership are human questions—see loneliness is not a product defect and companion vs partner. Adults 18+.
